A different fifty of 'Naina'...

It becomes the theme for the film.
Work on the screenplay begins.
Dialogue writing continues.
While this is happening, the process of selecting the lead actors begins.
The film is well timed and bangs on too.

A filming session is organized. The dates of the actors are being obtained and arranged. There are many factors involved in making a film. Recording of songs. Shooting on outdoor locations. Shooting with sets according to the occasion. Periodic review of work progress as necessary. There is a lot of shooting in between. More shooting sessions are planned and thus the film's heroine gets married and goes abroad. Although we have given the idea that we will leave the film industry after marriage, there is no guarantee that we will be able to complete the film accordingly. A studio should be available if a set is to be installed. Dates of other actors should also be available. The producer and director were upset as they did not get it. Now how to finish the movie?

J under the banner Shakti International. C. This is exactly what happened with the film 'Naina' (released in Mumbai on 14th September 1973, i.e. fifty years old) produced by Patel and Balubhai Shah and directed by Kanak Mishra, and there was a lot of discussion about it at that time. Starring Shashi Kapoor, Rajshree, Rehman, David, Parveen Paul, Akashdeep, Sanjana, Madhumati, Juganu etc., the shooting of 'Naina' was progressing with each shooting session. There is such a different script for shooting. Perhaps the later part of the film is shot in the very first stage of shooting. Anything can happen. And during that time, there was no rush as a film was completed in almost three and a half years. (Naina Movie)

But just like that Rajshree decided to get married and go to America and now the question arose how to complete the film 'Naina'. In such a situation, either to decide to shut down such a film after suffering financial loss or to meet the challenge of shooting in the middle of the film by making necessary changes in the screenplay. The directors took this second route. He made necessary changes in the screenplay while retaining the 'basic formula of the story'. Now signed Moushmi Chatterjee and released the film.

Now how was this change? The film shows that the heroine gets killed in an accident and the hero remarries. Of course, some scenes had to be re-shot now. But it is remarkable that the screenwriter, producer and director completed the film without giving up at all. All this was discussed a lot in the media during that time. Fans also noticed that the film became stagnant and this unfortunately hit the film. The film flopped. The main theater in Mumbai was Naaz and the film released in just three weeks. Moushmi Chatterjee was new to Hindi cinema then.

Her first two films 'Anurag' directed by Shakti Samanta and 'Kachche Dhage' directed by Raj Khosla were released in the same year (1973) and became popular and now came 'Naina'. Coincidentally, in 'Anurag' she is blind and is finally given the eyes of a cancer-stricken friend (Mr. Satyajit) and now again the coincidence of 'Naina' in the name of the film. (Naina Movie)

Farida Jalal as guest star in 'Naina' (Naina Movie), A. K. Hangal, Jankidas, Brahmachari, Sundar also played roles. It is natural to create some small characters while editing the screenplay. Original story by Nandini Devi. On the relationship between husband and wife. Of course there is some drama of misunderstanding. The ending is sweet though. Screenplay by Kaifi Azmi and Kanak Mishra and dialogues by Kaifi Azmi. Music by Shankar Jaikishan with lyrics by Indivar, Kaifi Azmi and Hasrat Jaipuri. Hone Lagi Hai Raat Jawa sung by Asha Bhosle should be heard many times. Humko To Jaan Se Pyari Hai sung by Mohammed Rafi won the Filmfare Award.

It is not always possible to predict the timing of a film in its horoscope, how smoothly it will be completed. Success is another matter. It is quite special that when the heroine of the film decided to get married and live abroad, such a film was changed and made as possible. Would this story of 'Naina' be an eye-opener to assume many possibilities while getting into filmmaking?
