Vidya Balan: Heroine who was once considered bad luck!

Vidya Balan is an easy-looking attractive face, confident, strong acting! She made her Bollywood debut with 'Parineeta' and changed the image of the lead actress in Bollywood. She started the trend of women oriented films with films like 'Dirty Picture' which were considered bold of that time but ahead of time. Till then films were marketed in the name of Nuts and the role of the lead actress was just to look good and play the role of the lead actor's girlfriend. That is, an attractive face that looks easy, smooth confidence, good acting! She made her Bollywood debut with 'Parineeta' and changed the image of the lead actress in Bollywood. She started the trend of women oriented films with films like 'Dirty Picture' which were considered bold of that time but ahead of time.

After 'Dirty Picture', he acted in quality mainstream Bollywood films like Kahani, Ishqiya, Paa, No One Killed Jessica. In 2014, she was awarded 'Padam Shri' for her contribution to the film industry. Today Vidya Balan is considered as one of the leading heroines in Bollywood but do you know? She was considered unlucky or bad luck for projects early in her career.

At the age of 16, Vidya Balan was going to act in a serial but the project was stopped in time. Then Ekta Kapoor's 'Balaji Telefilms' auditioned her for a role in 'Hum Paanch', in which she was selected. The show did well for the next few years. After the show closed, Vidya focused on her college. She told her mother that she should complete her primary education and get a regular job. While in college, she was getting offers for advertising and her mother thought that if she did it, she would get rid of the ghost of acting, and in doing so, she did 91 projects. But on the contrary, by that time, Vidya was completely absorbed by acting.

When she went to Bangalore for a shoot, she was asked to audition for a film with Malayalam cinema superstar Mohanlal, Vidya was very excited by the offer of a film with her favorite actor. She auditioned and got selected, and after the first schedule of the film went through, the producer and Mohanlal clashed egos and the shoot of the film was halted.

During this shoot, Vidya had signed 16 films one after the other. Before this film, the producer and Mohanlal had given 8 consecutive hits and now Vidya was new in this equation. So the producers decided that Vidya Balan was the cause of this clash and that she brought bad luck to the film and the news spread throughout the Malayalam industry, leaving her with 16 films. Everyone dropped her from films citing some reason or the other.

After all these incidents, Vidya started focusing on Tamil films. She was first cast in 'Run', the same film that was remade in Bollywood starring Abhishek Bachchan and Bhumika Chawla. She also shot its first schedule but the makers fired her without giving any reason and Meera Jasmine was roped in. In the year 2002, she was selected for the film 'Bala' but in that too she was dropped and Meera Jasmine was chosen.

Later in 2003 she got the movie 'Manaselam Kalari Vikram' which was shot properly but it was never released. With all these failures one after the other, her elder sister would try to keep her spirits high by telling her stories like how Amitabh Bachchan tasted success after his first 11 films flopped or Tabu had to wait 6 years for his first film. But the hunger within the actor never let her down and she kept trying. The first success of her efforts came with the lead role in the Bengali film Balo Theko directed by Gautam Haldar. It was well shot and released and was liked by the audience and critics and after seeing her work in that film Pradeep Sarkar chose her for the lead role in 'Parineeta' in 2005 but producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra wanted a famous actress for that role and Pradeep The government was adamant about Vidya so Vidya had to go through 40 screen tests for 6 months. The film Parineeta became a hit and after seeing her work in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Yani Lage Raho Munnabhai the film also became a hit and after that Vidhu never looked back
