A touch of Marathi in a Hindi picture, a touch of a song, a
feast of a dialogue has always been a huge favorite among Maharashtrian film
lovers. Feels like you. These things were guaranteed applause and
whistles from the house full crowd in the theatre. 'Animal' is a prime
example. Many enjoyed this feature length picture for its stunning visuals
by Upendra Limaye.
Hey Rafta Rafta Dekho.. Aakh Meri Ladi Hai.. These two and the Mumbaikar public in the crowd are enjoying the huge herd of cranes in South Mumbai's Hutatma Chowk area. At various spots in Mumbai, this song of teasing comes to the farm land and Dharmendra and Rekha look Maharashtrian. The dancers around the two also took the Maharashtrian form. Marathi people will be happy for sure. At that time it was done from the heart. Marathi minds rejoiced when Punjabi Dharmendra and South Indian Rekha were seen as Maharashtrian in the picture. Now this part of Marathi touch entertainment.
Unlike the expectations of lyricist Rajendra Krishna and music composer Kalyanji Anandji, Kishore has added great colors and fun to the song. Once Kishore Kumar understood the on-screen situation of the song and who he was going to sing for, he found the tune. The song will become more colorful. Why is this Maharashtrian piece good? Eventually, when I came to the media, I had the chance to interview the producer and director of this film, Arjun Hingorani. (Superhit)
He said, since I enjoyed Dada Kondke's 'Songadya', I decided to have Dada Kondke color in our picture too. I don't know much Marathi. The song from Dada's own 'Ekta Jeev Sadashiv', Yeh Yadye Yeh Laju Naoho, was a perfect fit for our song and the song became a hit. Actually, this fantastic idea was suggested by Kalyanji Anandji. He knows Marathi well. He also told this punch while telling the situation of the song to Rajendra Krishna. It was a big hit, said Arjun Hingorani.
I met him at his house near
Pali Market in Bandra on the occasion of his entertaining film 'Karisma Kudarat
Ka' (1985).
Two characteristics of Arjun Hingorani. He always named his picture after
'K' (kab q aur kaha etc) and it was he who gave Dharmendra his first silver
lining. The film was, “Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere” (1960).. and since then
Dharmendra has acted in every film directed by him. Dharmendra's
characteristic is to never forget those who helped him in many ways. (Superhit)
'Kahani Kismet…' is a very
spicy picture. There is a little mystery in it. The story of 'Jewel
Thief' by K. A. Narayan was in good demand in the Hindi film
industry. It is an unwritten rule of film industry that everything is a
hit picture. He also wrote Johnny Mera Naam, Victoria No. 203. Story
of Kahani Kismet by him, screenplay by Arjun Hingorani and dialogue by S. By
M. Abbas. The photographer is Kishore Rege, the editor is Anant Apte.
Along with Dharmendra and
Rekha, it also stars Ajith, Premnath, Rajendranath, Jayashree T, Sulochana,
Bharat Bhushan, Abhi Bhattacharya, Shetty, Yunus Parvez, Arjun Hingorani
himself (he often appears in his films) and Leena Das. Shetty is director
Rohit Shetty's father. They are in the picture which means that heavy
fighting is sure to be enjoyed. Image Yes, what else? The songs Tu
Yaar Mera Dilbar Mera (Asha Bhosle), Duniya Mujhse Kaheta Hai (Kishore Kumar)
were also hits from the film. (Superhit)
Dharmendra and Rekha's 1973
film 'Keemat' directed by Ravi Nagaich was the James Bond in Hindi. Sober,
idealistic (many films like Satyakam, Dewar, Naya Jamana) of the sixties,
Dharmendra O. P. Ralhan had been slowly spinning since the
directorial Phool Aur Patthar (1966) and now he was loved by the public as the
Dhishyav Dhishyavwala hero.

Rekha in the early days was
'Today's Mallika Sherawat'. Bold and beautiful. She was not expected
to act till now. One has to get such a role. From 'Ghar' directed by
Manik Chatterjee and 'Khoobsurat' directed by Hrshikesh Mukherjee, Rekha
changed forever. Her fans increased, that too forever. (Superhit)
Kahani Kismet Ki for both is a
masala mix picture in a commercial move. Many actors are doing such films. Importantly,
'Kahani Kismet Ki' became a Jubilee hit. Stayed for Silver Jubilee Weeks
at Maratha Mandir Cinemas and it had a big bang, guys come close come don't be
shy…
