'Kaho Na.. Pyar Hai' or filmmaker Chovishi...
To put it simply, when I started watching Marathi and Hindi
movies in single screen theaters in Girgaon with my family in the early
seventies when I was in school, I watched Mother India, Mughal e Azam, Ganga
Jamuna, Do Aukhe Barah Haath, Zanak Zanak Payal Baje, Hum Dono from the sixties
or earlier. , Kagaz Ke Phool, Guide, Sangam, Shaheed, Haqikat, Thitsiri Manzil,
many old films like 'watch old films' come out and sometimes these old films
were seen in matinee shows, repeat runs, Doordarshan, Galli films that 'What
was heavy earlier? A picture is being made' automatically came to my mouth. This
may mean that good films were not made after that. But after that the
movie changed and so did the preferences of the fans.(Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai)
Do you know why I am saying
this today? 'Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai' is not known as an 'old film' even after
twenty four years since its release in Mumbai. Isn't it great? On
January 14, 2000, the film was released in Mumbai at Main Theater Eras and
elsewhere and the whole atmosphere changed. As if the atmosphere was
charged with youth. Say no…. It was called 'Also Film' till its
release. That's why he says, only after the release of the picture, it is
understood as a hit or a flop and that is the right of the public who buys
tickets!
I remember, as soon as the pre-publicity of this film started,
many journalists preferred to interview the producer and director Rakesh
Roshan. By that time I had interviewed Rakesh Roshan twice in detail and
extensively on the occasion of the films 'Khudgarj' and 'Karan Arjun', so I
preferred the interview with Hrithik Roshan. The office of Rakesh Roshan's
production house Film Craft was then in Santa Cruz West, from where the message
came, Rakesh Roshan's house is on the fifth floor of Kavita Building on the
back road of Amitabh Bachchan's Pratiksha bungalow in Juhu, where Hrithik
Roshan can be met.
Accordingly I went. One
note, till then the name “Hrithik Roshan” had no glamor at all. He was
known as Rakesh Roshan's son and that's all he was giving an interview every
day. I asked Hrithik Roshan after seeing the mementos (i.e. trophies) of
the success of films like 'Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani', 'Paraya Dhan', 'Khel Khel Me',
'Jhutha Kahi Ka' and 'Hatyara' in which Rakesh Roshan once acted. have you seen
the movie He smiled nicely and said no. But when he heard my Hindi
and realized that I am a Maharashtrian, he said, I had fifty marks in Marathi
in school. I liked his frankness.
I remember, the India vs New Zealand test cricket match was playing on the
television in that house. After we enjoyed him for a while, our interview
started. By then he was a 'new face in films', that's why there was a kind
of simplicity in his behavior and speech. (Being in the media allowed me
to get many such experiences and still have them).
Hrithik Roshan's overall
demeanor was very ordinary even at the audio release of the song at a five-star
venue in Andheri. So much so that his girlfriend Suzanne Khan came with her
father Sanjay Khan and mother. Rakesh Roshan, however, was very excited
and as expected, the audio was released with the auspicious hand of his friends
Jitendra and Rishi Kapoor. Notably, Jaya Bachchan attended the event. Those
days were different. The memories of such a ceremony are gaining space in
the mind.
That's how the teaser of the movie came on the entertainment
channel. Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel danced to the cover of 'Kaho Naa…
Pyaar Hai' (Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai) but it was liked so much that positive vibes
were created about the film. If there was a teaser, I used to convince by
giving the example of this film. For us film critics in Mumbai, Dadasaheb
Phalke of Goregaon took place at Mini Theater in Chitranagari. Our general
reaction was that it was a nice and entertaining film.
But the movie was released and
fans took it on their heads from the very first show. The songs became
popular very quickly. The younger generation felt catchy. This was
the M TV generation. Handy mobile had not yet arrived. But young
people wanted music. The dance steps given by dance director Farah Khan to
Hrithik Roshan are amazing and stylish. Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Na Tum Jaano Na
Hum, Pyaar Ki Kashti Mein, Chand Sitare, Dil Ne Dil Ko Pukara, Ek Pal Ka Jeena…
The extraordinary magic of each song on youth. The film was watched again
and again for the songs (the conventional truth that a film hits such a repeat
audience…
Today they are forgotten and let go. Today it is understood that hit news
makes a movie popular. ) Hrithik Roshan's double role as Rohit and Raj
Chopra in the film. Honey Irani's screenplay revolves around two
look-alikes and a love story and a revenge story. The first meeting of Raj
and Sonia Saxena (Amisha Patel) in the film is similar to the first meeting of
Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne.
The intervening journey of the
film takes place in the breathtaking natural beauty of New Zealand. (Go to
New Zealand for shooting is the advice of lyricist and director Savankumar. He
had shot 'Sanam Harjai' there.) New Zealand plays a very important role in the
beauty of Kaho Na. Ah, as soon as the picture became a hit, New Zealand's
tourism boomed. The success of a film depends on many things. A few
months later, the Foreign Minister of New Zealand visited India and hosted a
lavish dinner at a luxurious hotel in South Mumbai to repay this. I
remember how much Rakesh Roshan was reluctant to talk about it. The
picture became a superhit and many remembered Kareena Kapoor.

Why do you know? She was
Hrithik Roshan's heroine in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai. She also participated in
the first shooting session at Famous Studios in Mahalakshmi, Mumbai. This
is how Abhishek Bachchan entered the acting field. Amitabh Bachchan's son
is a very serious matter. Kareena ie Bebo's very ambitious mother Babita
thought, what does Hrithik Roshan think? Abhishek Bachchan is a bigger
coin than that. Golden opportunity.
It should be Kareena's first
film with him. She gave an idea to Rakesh Roshan to take Kareena out of
Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai. P. Abhishek Bachchan's Kareena was cast as the
heroine in Dutta's 'Refugee' and Amisha Patel won the lottery for 'Kaho Na...'. Twenty-four
years have passed since all this happened? That means this film is still
alive across two generations of fans. Retaining our youth. It is also
a success that the film, which has now completed twenty-four years, is not
considered 'old or from the past'. Say no…. right?
