'Aan' is Mehboob's first Technicolor film

In the early fifties, director Mehboob made the first Technicolor film 'Aan' in 1952  . It had Dilip Kumar, Nadira and Nimmi in lead roles. It was a bold experiment at that time. It was promoted on a large scale. The premiere of this movie was to be held in London. For that, Mehboob decided to release the English version of this film with the name 'Savage Princess'. Many famous Hollywood actors attended this premiere. It also featured famous Hollywood actor Errol Flynn who loved Nimmi's performance. After watching the movie he met Nimmi and while greeting her took her hand in his hand and started kissing him in western style! (Mehboob)

Then Nimmi quickly removed her hand from his hand and said, “I am an Indian girl. You cannot treat me like this.” Nimmi's act was a media headline of the time. The next day several newspaper headlines were 'An Kissed Girl of India' Today's readers may find this story ridiculous but Nimmi maintained this aristocratic sophistication throughout her life. Today's generation is unlikely to even know Nimmi, but those who have crossed fifty are always well aware of this actress.

She entered the silver screen with Raj Kapoor's 'Barsaat'. In fact, she came to the sets to watch the shooting of Mehboob's film 'Andaz'. Raj Kapoor was working in this movie. His attention went to this beautiful sixteen-year-old girl with doe-eyed eyes. He immediately asked her and offered her the role of the second lead actress in his film 'Barsaat'. Nargis was the leading actress in this movie. The pair of Nimmi and Premnath in Barasat was liked by the audience especially the youth. The audience was also fascinated by her eyes. After 'Barsaat', Nimmi Kade films literally rained. (Mehboob)

Many famous actors were eager to take her with them. He is especially remembered for 'Banawara' with Raj Kapoor, Aan with Dilip Kumar, Udan Khatola, Amar, Didar and Saja, Andhiya with Dev Anand. Half of them are never too serious about their career. So she also played the role of second lead actress in many films. It includes Amar, Shama, Char Din Char Rahe, Akashdeep. It is said that the heroine of HS Ravel's 'Mere Mehboob', which came in 1963, was actually supposed to be half the heroine. Ravel wanted to make Nimmi the heroine in this film. But after hearing the story of the film, she accepted the role of the hero's sister instead of the heroine and it turned out to be her biggest mistake. Later, Sadhana played the heroine in this film. After playing the role of a sister, she started getting offers of similar roles. (Mehboob)

Many good films escaped from her hands. In 'Akashdeep' she was Ashok Kumar's heroine but the entire focus of the film was on Dharmendra and Nanda. Nimmi married S Ali Raza in the mid-sixties. Before that, an important incident had happened in her life. After the films 'Mughal E Azam', K Asif started the production of the film 'Love and God' and in it he gave the role of the heroine to Nimmi. But this film turned out to be very unlucky. Because the hero of this film, Guru Dutt passed away in 1964, after which Sanjeev Kumar came in as the hero. But later K Asif passed away.

The film went into the box. After fifteen years, K Asif's wife Sardar Akhtar and Nimmi completed this partial film and released it in 1986. So it is said that the last film as an actress was in 1986! Gradually, half of the lovers went into oblivion. In 2012, she gave a long interview to Rajya Sabha TV in which she narrated many anecdotes from her life. (Mehboob)

In 2015, she received Lifetime Achievement Award. She got married in 1965. The world became happy. Unfortunately, she never got a child. She had adopted her nephew. She lived a quiet life. She never got involved in any gossips and did not make any controversial statements. She lived a quiet sensible and mature life. Nimmi passed out of the world as quietly as she walked on screen. March 25, 2020 She passed away at the age of 88 in the age of Corona. In the movie 'Akashdeep', she was shot in a beautiful village. The lyrics of the song are 'Dil Ka Diya Jala Ke Gaya Aaj Koi Is Dunya Mein…'
