But during the shooting of this song, Amitabh Bachchan's right leg was seriously injured and he also shot this song in that condition. The film 'Don' was shown to actor Manoj Kumar after the complete shoot, as Chandra Barot was once his assistant and it was because of him that he got 'Don' to direct. Manoj Kumar praised the film. But he said that in the second half of the movie, the movie becomes very fast paced and action packed. The audience gets absolutely no respite. So put a song in it. Salim Javed actually didn't like the change but everyone insisted so he decided to insert a song into it. And 'Khai Ke Paan Banaras Wala….' This song came in the movie.

Amitabh Bachchan was shooting for two films on the day of shooting of this song. Don's song was to be shot at Mehboob Studios and part of it was to be shot at the actual Dhobighat. The shooting schedule at Mehboob Studio was from 2 pm to 10 pm. On the same day, he was going to shoot a film of Prakash Mehra from seven to two in the morning. The shooting was to take place at China Creek near Ghodbunder Road in Thane. It was an action sequence. Amitabh Bachchan's right leg was injured during this shoot. He also injured his ankle. In such a state, Amitabh Bachchan reached the Mehboob studio limping. After going there, they realized that the song shoot was to be done without wearing any sandal shoes. The leg was in great pain. There was also pain in the ankle due to the sprain. Amitabh immediately called a doctor, took a pain killer injection and started shooting for the song.
